Djokovic Knocked Out Of The Australian Open

The six time champion Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the Australian Open by Chung Hyeon of South Korea. Chung played brilliant and won the match in straight sets 7-6 7-5 7-6 to become the first Korean player to reach the last eight in a Grand Slam event. In the next round he will face another surprise American Tennys Sandgren who beat the fifth seed Dominic Thiem in just under four hours 6-2 4-6 7-6 6-7 6-3.

Roger Federer the defending champion moved into the last eight with a comfortable victory over world ranked number 80 Marton Fucsovics from Hungary 6-4 7-6 6-2. Up next for Roger is Czech Tomas Berdych who beat Fabio Fognini 6-1 6-4 6-4.

Kyle Edmund Reaches Quarter – Final At Australian Open

Kyle Edmund the British number two has reached his first Grand Slam quarter – final with a four sets victory over Andreas Seppi at the Australian Open today. Edmund ranked world number 49th, came back from a set & a break down to win 6-7 7-5 6-2 6-3. During the match Edmund hit 25 aces and will now play home favourite Nick Kyrgios or the third seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Rafael Nadal the number one seed moved into the last eight with a victory over Diego Schwartzman 6-3 6-7 6-3 6-3 and will face Marin Cilic from Croatia who beat 10th seed Pablo Carrento in a tight four set match 6-7 6-3 7-6 7-6.

Djokovic & Federer Into 4th Round At Australian Open

Roger Federer the the five time champion has moved into the last 16 at the Australian Open, yet to drop a single set so far. Federer was just to good for Frenchman Richard Gasquet winning 6-2 7-5 6-4.

While Novak Djokovic who has won the title six times had treatment on his lower back & leg before coming through in straight sets against Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2 6-3 6-3.

Federer Into Third Round At Australian Open

Roger Federer moved into the third round of the Australian Open with a straight sets victory over Jan-Lennard Struff from Germany 6-4 6-4 7-6. In the next round Roger will play 29th seed Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

Novak Djokovic won his second round match against Gael Monfils 4-6 6-3 6-1 6-3 in just under three hours as the temperature reached 39C.

Federer Wins First Round At Australian Open

The defending champion Roger Federer was on fine form & outclassed Aljaz Bedene in straight sets 6-3 6-4 6-3 to reach the second round at the Australian Open. Next up for Federer is Jan – Lennard Struff from Germany.

The six-time champion Novak Djokovic was back to winning ways as he returned to the tour for the first time since Wimbledon with a 6-1 6-2 6-4 victory over American Donald Young. Novak now faces the Frenchman Gael Monfils in the second round.

Kyle Edmund Into Australian Open Second Round

The only British man in the Australian Open, Kyle Edmund has knocked out the 11th seed Kevin Anderson in a thrilling five set classic to progress to the second round. Edmund the world number 23 came through 6-7 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4 & will now face Denis Istomin.

The World number one Rafael Nadal cruised into the second round with a straight sets victory over Victor Estrella Burgos with the lost of just three games.

Nick Kyrgios Wins Brisbane International

Nick Kyrgios the world number 21 has won his first ATP Tour title on home soil with a straight sets victory over American Ryan Harrison 6-4 6-2 to win the Brisbane International. The Australian had to save five break points in the first set but converted his only chance to take the opening set, after that Kyrgios dominated the second set to win his fourth career title & first since October 2016. The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open starts next Sunday January 15th.

France Win The Davis Cup

France for the 10th time have won the Davis Cup as Lucas Pouille beat Belgium’s Steve Darcis in the deciding final match. Sunday began with the hosts 2-1 up in the tie, but David Goffin levelled for Belgium by beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 6-3 6-2. Pouille the world number 18 then stepped up to claimed victory for France with a emphatic straight sets win 6-3 6-1 6-0 over Darcis currently ranked 76 in the world. Its is France’s first title since 2001.

Goffin Beats Federer To Reach ATP Finals

David Goffin seeded seven stunned the six-time champion Roger Federer 2-6 6-3 6-4 to reach the ATP Finals in London. The victory is the first time Goffin has beat Federer in seven attempts & will now face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the final. Dimitrov came through against American Jack Sock 4-6 6-0 6-3.

Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares were beaten 7-6 6-2 by defending champions Henri kontinen & John Peers in the doubles semi-finals.

Federer Beats Cilic At ATP Finals In London

Roger Federer who had already topped the Boris Becker group at the ATP Finals in London, marched on to the semi – finals with an unbeaten record with a victory against Marin Cilic this afternoon 6-7 6-4 6-1. This evening American Jack Sock beat third seed Alexander Zverev 6-4 1-6 6-4 to finish second in the group and set up a semi-final match against Grigor Dimitrov on Saturday.
