Novak Djokovic has won the US Open Title with an impeccable performance against Juan Martin del Potro in the final. Djokovic won the match 6-3 7-6 6-3 to claim his third US Open crown and equals Pete Sampras fourteen Grand Slam major trophies. Novak who won Wimbledon in July will now move to World number three in the rankings. The only players ahead of Djokovic with more Grand Slam titles are his great rivals Roger Federer on 20 and Rafael Nadal on 17.

Naomi Osaka Wins US Open Womens Title
Naomi Osaka has become the first Japanese person to win a Grand Slam title with a straight sets victory over Serena Williams. The 20th seed Osaka won the match 6-2 6-4 after an angry Williams accused the umpire of being a “thief” in some dramatic scenes ever seen in a Grand Slam final. Williams was aiming to equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles will have to wait until the Australian Open at the start of 2019. There was good new for the Brits as Jamie Murray and American partner Bethanie Mattek – Sands won the US Open mixed doubles title by beating Alicja Rosolska and Nikola Mektic in the final 2-6 6-3 11-9.

The world number one Rafael Nadal and three time champion had to retire during his semi – final match at the US Open due to a knee injury against Juan Martin del Potro. Nadal retired at the end of the second set with Del Potro leading 7-6 6-2. In the final on Sunday Del Potro will face Novak Djokovic who won his semi-final in straight sets out classing Kei Nishikori from Japan 6-3 6-4 6-2. Djokovic will be aiming to equal Pete Sampras tally of 14 Grand Slam titles.

Novak who as won the championship twice at Flushing Meadows won the match 6-3 6-4 6-4 and will now face Kei Nishikori from Japan on Friday. Federer In Shock Defeat At US Open
Roger Federer the five-time champion has been knocked out of the US Open in the fourth round by unseeded world number 55 John Millman from Australia. Federer lost in four sets 3-6 7-5 7-6 7-6, after the match Millman said he felt a bit guilty beating his hero. Next up for Millman is Novak Djokovic in the last eight. Crowd favourite Juan Martin Del Potro overcame John Isner this evening to reach the semi-finals, former champion Del Potro winning the match 6-7 6-3 7-6 6-2 and will now face World number Rafael Nadal or Dominic Thiem on Friday.

The two time champion Novak Djokovic is into the US Open quarter-finals with a straight sets victory over Joao Sousa from Portugal 6-3 6-4 6-3. Next for Djokovic could be a mouth water encounter against Roger Federer if he can come through against Australian John Millman later today. The former number ones have not faced each other this early in a Grand Slam since the Australian Open in 2007. The defending champion Rafael Nadal moved into the last eight with a four sets win against world number 37 Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3 6-3 6-7 6-4, to set up a thrilling clash with ninth seed Dominic Thiem.
Federer Reaches US Open Fourth Round
The world number two & five-time champion Roger Federer is through to the US Open fourth round after a straight sets victory against Nick Kyrgios from Australia. Federer won the match in one hour and 44 minutes 6-4 6-1 7-5 and will now face Kyrgios’ compatriot John Millman. Federer who has won 20 Grand Slam titles in his fantastic career has not triumphed in New York since 2008 but on his current form no one would bet against him.

Rafael Nadal the top seed and defending champion is into the fourth round at this years US Open. Nadal was a set and a break down against Karen Khachanov but fought back to win a thrilling match 5-7 7-5 7-6 7-6. World number one Nadal will now face Nikoloz Basilashvili in the last 16. The Wimbledon finalist and world number five Keven Anderson came through an epic five set match against Denis Shapovalov, winning 4-6 6-3 6-4 4-6 6-4 and will now play Dominic Thiem in the fourth round.
Andy Murray Knocked Out Of US Open
Andy Murray the former British Number One has been knocked out of the US Open in the second round by Spanish 31st seed Fernando Verdasco. Murray playing in his first Grand Slam for 14 months lost 7-5 2-6 6-4 6-4 in sweltering conditions in New York. Fellow Brit Cameron Norrie also lost his second round encounter against Dusan Lajovic from Serbia in four sets 6-2 2-6 6-4 6-4.
Murray Wins First Round Match at US Open
Andy Murray fought back from a set down to win his first round match at the US Open against Australian James Duckworth. Murray now 31 yrs old won in four sets 6-7 6-3 7-5 6-3 on the new Louis Armstrong stadium at Flushing Meadows. Murray will now face Spanish 31st seed Fernando Verdasco in the second round. It was not so good news for the British number one Kyle Edmund as he lost his first round match against the world number 94 Paolo Lorenzi of Italy 4-6 6-4 7-5 6-1.
