Nadal has now won 15 clay court matches in a row this season & adds the Madrid title to his Barcelona Open & Monte Carlo Masters victories. With his current form no one would bet against Nadal winning the French Open which starts on May 22nd.

Nadal Beats Djokovic In Madrid
Rafael Nadal the four time champion beat Novak Djokovic this afternoon in straight sets 6-2 6-4 to reach the Madrid Open final. This ends a three-year, seven-match losing streak against Djokovic. The last victory over the Serb was in the French Open final in 2014. Nadal record on clay this season is 14 – 0 & will now face Dominic Thiem or Pablo Cuevas in the final tomorrow.
Nadal To Face Djokovic in Madrid Semi-Finals
Rafael Nadal a four-champion in Madrid will take on this afternoon Novak Djokovic who has won the title twice for a place in final. Yesterday Nadal seeded fourth beat Belgian ninth seed David Goffin in straight sets 7-6 6-2. While Djokovic had a walkover when Kei Nishikori withdrew with a wrist injury.
In the other semi-final Pablo Cuevas with play in form Dominic Thiem.
Shock Defeat For Murray In Madrid
The World number one Andy Murray is out of the Madrid Open with a shock defeat today against Borna Coric in the last 16 of the Madrid Open. Murray was beaten in straight sets 6-3 6-3 by Coric ranked 59th in the world.
Its not been a good clay court season for Murray so far following his shock defeat in the last 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters & also losing in the semi-final of the Barcelona Open.
Djokovic & Nadal Into Third Round In Madrid
Novak Djokovic the World number two is into the third round of the Madrid Open with a victory over Spanish wildcard Nicolas Almagro 6-1 4-6 7-5. This is Djokovic first match since parting company with his coaching staff on Friday & will now face Feliciano Lopez.
In form Rafael Nadal also progressed to the third round with a win against Italian Fabio Fognini 7-6 3-6 6-4, in a match lasting just under three hours to set up a thrilling encounter with Nick Kyrgios.
Murray Into Third Round In Madrid
Andy Murray the world number one booked his place in the third round of the Madrid Open with a straight sets victory over Marius Copil 6-4 6-3. Murray will now face Croat Borna Coric or Frenchman Pierre – Hughes Herbert in the last 16.
Nadal To Face Federer In Australian Open Final
Rafael Nadal won an epic five-set semi-final today against Grigor Dimitrov 6-3 5-7 7-6 6-7 6-4 with the match lasting almost five hours. The victory sets up a much -anticipated Australian Open Final against Roger Federer on Sunday & Nadal first Grand Slam final since 2014.
Nadal is going for his 15th major title with Federer his 18th. The last time they met in a slam final was the French Open in 2011. Its a match not to be missed.

Roger Federer came through a thrilling five-set semi-final today against fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka 7-5 6-3 1-6 4-6 6-3 to reach the Australian Open Final & stay on course to win his 18th Grand Slam title.
Roger now 35 years old is the oldest man to reach a Grand Slam Final since Ken Rosewell did so at the 1974 US Open at the age of 39. Federer will now face Rafael Nadal or Grigor Dimitrov who battle it out tomorrow morning.

Murray Wins ATP Tour Finals
Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-3 6-4 to win his first ATP finals title in London and end 2016 as the world number one. Murray extended his career-best winning run to 24 matches. The Scot will now take two weeks off before heading to Miami for the off season warm weather training.
