Murray Into Third Round At French Open

Andy Murray the World number one is into the third round of the French Open after beating Martin Klizan the unseeded Slovakian. Murray was slow to start & found himself a set down before coming through in four sets 6-7 6-2 6-2 7-6. Next up for Murray is Juan Martin del Potro.

Also into the third round is British number two Kyle Edmund after his victory against Renzo Olivo in straight sets 7-5 6-3 6-1. Kyle yet to drop a set will now face big serving South African kevin Anderson who beat Nick Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 6-1 6-2.

Nadal & Djokovic Into French Open Third Round

Rafael Nadal the nine-time winner & Novak Djokovic the defending champion both progressed to the third round of the French Open with straight sets victories today in Paris. Nadal seeded fourth looked very sharp beating Dutchman Robin Haase 6-1 6-4 6-3, while Djokovic won against Joao Sousa from Portugal 6-1 6-4 6-3. Rafael & Novak are on course to meet each other in the semi-finals if the next few rounds go to plan.

Heather Watson One Victory From French Open Spot

The British number two Heather Watson is one victory from reaching the main draw of the French Open after beating Tereza Smitkova in straight sets today 6-4 7-6. Watson will now take on Richel Hogenkamp the fourth seed in the final qualifying round tomorrow.

Watson this year has fallen down the rankings to 118 and missed out on direct entry into a Grand Slam for the first time in three years.

Zverev Defeats Djokovic In Rome Final

The 20 -year old Alexander Zverev stunned Novak Djokovic to win the Italian Open in straight sets 6-4 6-3 & become the youngest player to win a ATP 1000 tournament since Djokovic, aged 19 in Miami, 10 years ago. Zverev will now move to number 10 in the world rankings.

Big news is Djokovic has announced Andre Agassi as his new coach & will be with him at the French Open starting this Sunday.

Djokovic Into Italian Open Final

Novak Djokovic the world number two booked his place in todays final in Rome at the Italian Open with a impressive victory over Dominic Thiem just losing one game 6-1 6-0. Djokovic will now face the German Alexander Zverev after he came through against big serving American John Isner 6-4 6-7 6-1.

Nadal Out Of Italian Open

Rafael Nadal the seven-time champion is out of the Italian Open in Rome after losing to Dominic Thiem in straight sets 6-4 6-3. Thiem victory brings Nadal 17 matches winning run on clay this season to an end & will now face Novak Djokovic or Juan Martin del Potro in the semi finals.

In the other semi-final today big serving John Isner is taking on Alexander Zverev.

Nadal & Djokovic Into Quarter-Finals In Rome

Rafael Nadal the seven-time champion is through to the last eight of the Italian Open in Rome after beating American Jack Sock in straight sets 6-4 6-3. Nadal nows extends his unbeaten run on clay this season to 17 matches & will now face Dominic Thiem in a repeat of last weeks final in Madrid.

Novak Djokovic the world number two is also through after defeating clay court specialist Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-4 6-4. Next up for Novak is Juan Martin del Potro. The shock of the day was world number three Stan Wawrinka losing to big serving American John Isner 7-6 6-4.

Murray Knocked Out Of Rome Masters

World number one Andy Murray and defending champion has been knocked out of the Rome Masters in the second round by Fabio Fognini 6-2 6-4. The world number 29 Fognini was just to good for Murray who continues his poor run of form before the French Open which starts on May 28th.

World number two Novak Djokovic who has never failed to reach the quarter-finals in Rome came through his second round match this afternoon in straight sets 7-6 6-2 against British number 3 Aljaz Bedene.

Roger Federer To Miss French Open

Roger Federer the current World number five & 18-time Grand Slam winner has made the decision to miss the French Open & the rest of the clay-court season. This is an attempt to continue on the ATP Tour for many years to come & recognises that careful scheduling will be the key to his longevity. Federer who won his first Grand Slam in 5 years when he won the Australian Open back in January, will now turn his focus to the grass court season & will surely be one of the favourites for the Wimbledon title.
