Federer to Play Cilic In Wimbledon Final 2017

Roger Federer is into his 11th Wimbledon final after beating Tomas Berdych in straight sets 7-6 7-6 6-4 this evening on centre court. Federer in superb form is yet to drop a set on his way to the final & will face Marin Cilic from Croatia after his victory against American Sam Querrey 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-5 earlier in the day.

It will be Federer 29th Grand Slam final & now only one win from a historic 8th Wimbledon title. Roger will move to 19th Grand Slam titles if victorious on Sunday. While Cilic is aiming for his 2nd Slam title after winning the US Open in 2014.

Venus Beats Konta in Wimbledon Semi – Final

Johanna Konta the British number one hopes of reaching a first Wimbledon final were ended with a straight sets semi – final defeat to Venus Williams this afternoon on centre court. Venus seeded 10th played very well to win 6-4 6-2 and will now face Garbine Muguruza of Spain in the final on Saturday.

Venus at the age of 37 is the oldest Grand Slam finalist since 1994 when Martina Navratilova finished runner – up at Wimbledon.

Murray & Djokovic Out Of Wimbledon 2017

Andy Murray the World number one & defending Wimbledon champion has been knocked out of tournament at the quarter – finals stage by big serving American Sam Querrey this afternoon on centre court. Querrey at the age of 29 beat Murray in five sets 3-6 6-4 6-7 6-1 6-1 to become the first American to reach a Grand Slam semi-final since Andy Roddick at Wimbledon in 2009. Next for Querrey in the last four is Marin Cilic who came through in five sets against Gilles Muller.

Also this evening Novak Djokovic is out of Wimbledon after retiring with an injured elbow during his quarter – final against Tomas Berdych. Novak lost the first set 7-6 & was 2- 0 down in the second set when he made the decision.

Roger Federer stayed on course for his eight Wimbledon title with a straight sets victory against Milos Raonic 6-4 6-2 7-6. The match was Federer 100th singles victory at the championship & now faces Tomas Berdych on Friday for a place in the final.

Jo Konta Into Semi – Finals Of Wimbledon 2017

Jo Konta is into the semi-finals of Wimbledon with a sensational victory this evening over the second seed Simona Halep of Romania 6-7 7-6 6-4. This makes Konta the first British women since Virginia Wade to reach the semi-final stage at Wimbledon since 1978. Next for Konta is American Venus Williams.

Earlier in the day the world number four Novak Djokovic progressed to the quarter-finals with a straight sets victory over Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-2 7-6 6-4. Novak will now face Czech Tomas Berdych.

Nadal Out Of Wimbledon 2017

The fourth seed Rafael Nadal has been knocked out of Wimbledon this evening in a epic five set thriller against Gilles Muller. The match lasting four hours & 48 minutes with Muller coming through 6-3 6-4 3-6 4-6 15-13.

For the first time since 1973 Britain will have a mens’s & ladies quarter – finalists at Wimbledon after wins today for Andy Murray & Jo Konta. Murray the defending champion & top seed beat Freanchman Benoit Paire 7-6 6-4 6-4, while Konta the sixth seed beat Caroline Garcia 7-6 4-6 6-4. Murray now faces big serving American Sam Querrey on Wednesday & Konta will play second seed Simona Halep tomorrow.

Roger Federer was in good form winning in straight sets this afternoon against Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 6-2 6-4 to make it to his 50th Grand Slam quarter- final.

Federer & Djokovic Into Fourth Round Of Wimbledon

Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic are both through to the second week of Wimbledon & into the fourth round after straight sets victories on centre court this afternoon. Federer seeded three played superbly beating serve & volley expert Mischa Zverev 7-6 6-4 6-4. Djokovic the second seed came through against Ernests Gulbis 6-4 6-1 7-6.

Next up for Federer is Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov while Djokovic faces Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

Nadal Wins 10th French Open Title

Rafael Nadal made history today by winning his 10th French Open title in Paris with a straight sets victory over Stan Wawrinka. Nadal won the match 6-2 6-3 6-1 to claim his 15th Grand Slam title & become the first man or woman in the Open era to have won a Grand Slam tournament 10 times. Nadal now moves above Pete Sampras on the list of all-time Grand Slam winners into second place behind Roger Federer.

Murray Out Of The French Open

The world number one Andy Murray is out of the French Open after a epic five-set semi-final defeat to Swiss third seed Stan Wawrinka 6-7 6-3 5-7 7-6 6-1. It was a repeat of last years semi-final, which Murray won before going on to lose in the final to Djokovic.

Wawrinka will now play inform Rafael Nadal in the final after his straight sets victory against Dominic Thiem 6-3 6-4 6-0. Nadal yet to drop a single set on his route to the final, is bidding to win his 10th French Open title.

Nadal & Djokovic Into French Open Quarter- Finals

Rafael Nadal continued his impressive form with a straight sets victory over Roberto Bautista Agut 6-1 6-2 6-2 to move into the last eight at Roland Garros. Nadal at the age of 31 is aiming to become the first man to win 10 titles at a single Grand Slam event & will now face his fellow countryman Pablo Carreno Busta.

Novak Djokovic the second seed stays on course to meet Nadal in the semi-final after a victory today against Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6 6-1 6-3. Next for Novak is sixth seed Dominic Thiem who is yet to drop a set on his way to the quarter-finals.

Murray Into Fourth Round At French Open

The world number one Andy Murray is into the fourth round of the French Open with a great victory over Juan Martin del Potro today in Paris. After a tight first set lasting 84 minutes, Murray came through in straight sets 7-6 7-5 6-0 & will now play American John Isner or Karen Khachanov from Russia.
