Novak Djokovic is out of the French Open after a shock defeat this evening to unseeded Marco Cecchinato from Italy. Djokovic lost the match 6-3 7-6 1-6 7-6 to the world number 72 who had never won a main-draw match at a Grand Slam before this year’s Roland Garros. He is also the lowest ranked player to reach this stage of the clay court event since Andrei Medvedev in 1999.
Next for Marco Cecchinato in the semi-final is Dominic Thiem who had a straight sets victory over the second seed Alexandra Zverev 6-4 6-2 6-1.
